On track to deliver the final recommendations

We are pleased to confirm that we are on track to submit our final recommendations report for new Parliamentary constituency boundaries to the Speaker of the House of Commons by the deadline of 1 July 2023. It’s likely we will submit our final recommendations around the end of June 2023.

We will make a further announcement once we have submitted our final recommendations. As soon as the Speaker has laid the report before Parliament we will be able to publish our final recommendations so everyone can see the new map of constituency boundaries in England.

This will complete our statutory responsibilities in relation to the 2023 Review of Parliamentary constituencies.

Once the final recommendations report from all four Parliamentary Boundary Commissions has been laid by the Speaker, within four months of the last report being laid, the Government is required to submit to the Privy Council an Order that gives effect to all four Commissions’ recommendations. In drawing up that Order, the Government may not modify any of the recommendations of the Commissions, unless specifically requested to do so by the relevant Commission (and any such request must itself by laid before Parliament and published).

After the Privy Council approves the Oder, the new constituencies take effect at the next General Election.
